Loot System : EPGP and How it Works. Empty
PostSubject: Loot System : EPGP and How it Works.   Loot System : EPGP and How it Works. I_icon_minitimeTue Dec 29, 2009 7:00 am

We will be using the EPGP system to distribute loot in all 25 man instances. 10 man instances use random rolls for loot distribution. EPGP takes into account pretty much any variable you can think of. While it does have a few drawbacks, it is the fairest system we have found yet. You can find out your PR by dividing the EP by GP in your officer notes (see the in-game Guild Info for the formatting). However, that does not take into account the Base GP we are using, so to get the actual PR values you can download and install the EPGP addon:

http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/4528/

2. What Does EPGP Mean

Effort Points (EP): Gained for attending raids (in time), Killing bosses, Special Rewards (on time, stepping out, etc). Can be reduced as a penalty (going AFK without notice for extended periods, being PVP flagged at raid time, etc)

Gear Points (GP): Gained when rewarded loot from bosses.

Priority (PR): EP / GP , recalculated after each boss is downed (and at the end of the raid). The Base GP value will affect this.

Decay rate 10%: Both EP and GP decay (reduce), by a certain percentage each week. This helps avoid people hording their points, use them or lose them.

3. How It Works

When a piece of loot drops, anyone of the appropriate class can "call" for it (for lack of better term), assuming they have a minimum level of EP (200 points). The person with the highest PR gets the loot, and his GP is increased by the amount for that piece. Their PR is then recalculated, which will drop with the increase of GP.

Any increase of EP will increase your PR. Any drop in EP or an increase in GP will lower your PR.

This system helps keep everyone on a fair playing field by rewarding those people that attend raids and are time, while still providing a means for newer players to quickly get a high enough PR to be able to get loot. This is an internal system that is stored on Officer Notes and is viewed and can be monitored by an ingame addon.

We may be tweaking the values for EP as we go.

4. How To Get Loot

Once a boss is downed, or something drops off trash we are clearing, the Master Looter (or Raid Leader) will call out the item by linking it ask for interest. If you are interested and have more than the minimum EP, whisper the Master looter with your interest on the item.

1. PRIMARY PR (100% GP charge)
2. MAIN OFFSPEC PR (50% GP charge)
3. ALT PR (no GP charge)
4. ALT OFFSPEC PR (no GP charge)

Be sure to type in caps, to ensure the ML sees it. They will ask for last calls and then give to the highest player with the highest PR.

HIGHLIGHTS AND OVERVIEW OF EPGP

A. Definition:
EPGP stands for an Effort Points/Gear Points system. Our EPGP has three aspects to it. Each aspect will be explained in further details below.

1. Effort Points (EP) and Gear Points (GP) are awarded to raid members during a raid.
2. Priority Rating (PR) is used to determine who gets loot and is based on the following formula: PR = EP / GP.
3. Decay system which will affect your EP and GP earned.

B. Abbreviations:
EP = Effort Points (Awarded for Participation)
GP = Gear Points (Loot Value)
PR = Priority Rating (Number used to determine who gets Loot)

EFFORT POINTS (EP) AND GEAR POINTS (GP)
A. EFFORT Points:
Your EP will continue to build as you raid more and more with the guild. Being ready to raid at the start time will earn you a set number of EP. Being in the raid from start to finish will also earn you a set number of EP. Being available for standby for the duration of a raid will earn you a set number of EP.

A. GEAR Points:
Gear Points are awarded for each item you receive based on its quality and level. Each item already has a set GP in the game. Your GP number will continuously go up as you accrue gear. GP will also be affected by Decay (see below). New new raiders will start with a GP value of 200 until they receive an item. When you receive an item in game it will get added in to calculate your new PR rating, which will now be lower. This gives other people who may be close to your PR rating a chance to also get loot during a raid.

For Example:
The item [King's Defender] is worth 128 GP. Person A has 450 EP and 200 GP and a PR of 2.25 (450 / 200 = 2.25) . Their new Priority Rating (PR) after receiving the item would be (450 / 328) = 1.37

If you want to understand more about how GP is configured for items you can check out the following websites: What is EPGP? and WoWhead. .

EARNING EP
A. Raiding:
It is possible to earn PARTIAL EP for attendance. Effort points are always awarded DURING the raid, so it is possible for your PR to fluctuate during a raid. Your EP goes down through through Decay and Penalties (see below).

You will get 5 EP for every 15 minutes spent in the raid, and 10 EP for each farmed boss killed.

B. Standby:
Members on stand by for a raid (signed up, on time and ready, meet the raid minimum requirements, but due to raid configuration were not able to make the raid) will receive, for the period they are on standby, 50% of the raid EPs. This will be rewarded after the raid or before you join the raid if you end up being called into the raid.

C. Bonus EP:
Bonus Effort Points are currently accumulated for the following things:
1. Progression boss kills/attempts.
2. Progression.
3. Other things determined by the Raid Leader or Guild Master.

LOOT PRIORITY & PRIORITY RATING (PR)
A. Overall Practice:
Loot Priority Rating (PR) is determined by dividing your current EP by your current GP. PR = EP/GP. This is the number that will determine who gets the loot when multiple people are interested in the item. Since this system is a relational one, based on your EP (Participation) and GP (Gear awarded) combined, it is actually easy for new people coming in to get gear. As you earn EP during a raid your PR will slowly climb up until an item drops that you want to bid on. If you 'win' the item, your GP rating will be changed and therefore reflect a new PR rating (Remember: PR=EP/GP).

For Example:
.................EP....GP....PR
Person A....550...450...1.2
Person B....350...200...1.75

So in this example Person A and Person B want the same item, [Gloves of the Fallen Defender] This Item. Person A has a PR of 1.2: (550/450) = 1.2. Person B has a PR of 1.75: (350/200) = 1.75. Person B would get the item over Person A.

With this example you can see that the system is designed to reward people who participate more and have won less gear. The higher a person's EP, the more they participate. The lower a person's GP, the less gear they have won.

REQUESTING GEAR DURING RAIDS
A. Gear vs Class/Spec:
Typical loot rules will apply. Priority will go to: Main > Offspec > Alts > guild bank. Except for BOE Items

B. Submitting a request:
For Normal and Progression raids, if you are interested in an item that is onspec for you and you need the item then send the Raid Leader or Loot Master a tell of "Mainspec" during the loot distribution. If you are interested in an item that either is offspec for you, you are an alt, or you would be interested in it if no one else needs it then you can send the RL/ML a tell of "Offspec"
The RL/ML then looks at the PR of anyone who bid "Mainspec" and determines who the item goes to. If no one bid as "Mainspec" then the RL/ML will look at the PR of ever yone who bid as "Offspec". If no one bids, then the item goes to the GBANK.

DECAY AND PENALTY SYSTEM
A. Decay System:
The Decay System is designed to be a gradual decay over time of your EP and GP points. This is to prevent point hoarding. Our current decay system will be 10%. Each Tuesday after the reset, your EP and GP points will decay by 10%. This will not effect your PR unless the decay bring your GP to the floor of 200. Current PR will be posted in the forums every week after the decay is calculated.

EPGP Values:
Minimum EP=500
Decay=10%
Base GP=1
